Sustainability

We transform animal by-products into valuable raw materials – efficiently, fairly, and circularly. As a specialist and supplier for the European pet food, feed, and aquafeed industries, we increase the value creation of animal products, reduce unnecessary waste streams, and optimize the circular economy.

Our Strategy

Promoting the Circular Economy

Resource efficiency through scaling the value creation of all animal components.

Climate Protection

Reduction of greenhouse gas emissions through decarbonization, energy efficiency, and productivity.

Resource Conservation

Environmental relief through efficient use of water, reduction of water pollution, and consistently circular waste management.

Human Rights in the Supply Chain

Dignified labor and social standards along the supply chain through responsible supplier management.

Our Goals

Measures and Milestones

Energy Management according to ISO 50001

Since 2012, we have been continuously working to optimize our energy efficiency within the framework of a structured energy management system according to ISO 50001.

Ground-Mounted Photovoltaic System

Our new ground-mounted photovoltaic system has been producing approximately 2 million kWh of renewable energy per year on 16,000 m² since 2025, supplying around 7% of our electricity demand.

Efficient Vehicle Fleet

State-of-the-art tractors and continuous driver efficiency training at our own Badenhop training center reduce fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions of our vehicle fleet year after year.

Resources

Key Figures and Measures

Own Wastewater Treatment Plant

From 2026, we will take responsibility for the entire water cycle with our own wastewater treatment plant (WTP). Through treatment and processing, we expect to reduce our water demand by up to 60%.

Badenhop 2025 Sustainability Report

For 2025, we have prepared a voluntary sustainability report for the first time. In it, we present our goals, challenges, and progress.

Sustainability at Badenhop

Our Vision

We transform animal by-products into valuable raw materials – efficiently, fairly, and circularly. Without further processing for pet food, feed, and aqua feed, these by-products would be worthless and pure waste products. Through our work, they are upgraded and remain part of a functioning material cycle.

As a family-run company in its 5th generation, Badenhop stands for sustainable action with a long-term perspective along the entire value chain.

Measures and Milestones

Efficient Vehicle Fleet

State-of-the-art tractors and continuous driver efficiency training at our own Badenhop training center reduce fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions of our vehicle fleet year after year.

Energy Standard in New Deep-Freeze Warehouse

The construction of our deep-freeze warehouse in 2023 relies on the latest energy standards, heat recovery, and renewable energy with its own photovoltaic system.

100% Recycling & Recovery

100% of the waste generated at Badenhop in 2024 was recovered or recycled.

Ground-Mounted Photovoltaic System

Our new ground-mounted photovoltaic system has been producing approximately 2 million kWh of renewable energy per year on 16,000 m² since 2025, supplying around 7% of our electricity demand.

Own Wastewater Treatment Plant

From 2026, we will take responsibility for the entire water cycle at our site with our own wastewater treatment plant (WTP). Through targeted treatment, processing, and reuse of water, we reduce water pollution, lower freshwater consumption, and conserve valuable resources. The WTP is a central component of our future-oriented approach.

Sustainability Assessment by EcoVadis

Every year, we have our sustainability performance in the areas of environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement assessed through independent benchmarking by EcoVadis.

Outlook

In 2026, we will publish our first sustainability report based on the VSME standard.

Transparent Communication of Our Goals

We are preparing this report on a voluntary basis to transparently communicate our sustainability ambitions, our challenges, and our progress.
